Turquoise Trail
OTM partnered with Rocky Mountain Youth Corps to build 6.5 miles of new trails near Leadville, Colorado. Crews worked extremely hard to construct a pair of directional trails in the shadow of some of Colorado’s highest mountains. Rocky Mountain Youth Corps worked alongside The Cloud City Wheelers trail crew, battling smoke and blazing sun to build Lake County’s newest trails.
Summer, 2021 the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps crew helped complete 4000′ of new trail at Turquoise Lake. The crews enjoyed picking strawberries off the trail and were constantly in awe of the woodpeckers and other animals feasting on all the fresh growth from the recently logged forest floor. Working together with the Cloud City Wheelers, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps crews finished Lake County’s newest trail and helped complete the first phase of the Turquoise Lake Trails Project in the Pike San Isabel National Fore.
